Although not large, all of life's needs can be met in the shops of Haywards Heath. The main shops, with branches of most of the High Street names, are centred in South Road. This is where the Orchards Centre is also situated. Alongside the mainstream outlets there are a wide range of shops together with many charity shops, banks and building societies.
At one end of South Road is Sussex Road, where a collection of interesting small shops ranging from a Pine Shop to automotive specialists may be found. At the other end, The Broadway, runs down to the station. The majority of the restaurants are here. Nestled amongst the eateries are a number of small shops, chemists, a greengrocer (an increasingly threatened species it seems!) and estate agents.
There are local parades of shops in other parts of Haywards Heath and the neighbouring villages such as Lindfield and Cuckfield offer a completely different shopping experience with a variety of small and interesting shops.
For those wanting a broader choice, Crawley and Brighton are the obvious choices although it is only a short rail journey into central London.
